A Walk Through Pattaya, Thailand

Well, another week has gone by and it has definitely been a fun one.  I tried some new things, we partied at Steve's place with ALL of his employees, we went to the beach numerous times (again), and walked around and learned the area even more.  We also discovered that we can walk just about anywhere, even if it takes us about an hour.

Since we have been here neither of us have really tried anything new other than Thai food.  Since we began to learn our way around we have been passing by certain venues which really caught my eye.  When I first saw it I laughed to myself at the concept and the thought of actually doing something like this, but then my frat-tastic side kicked in.  I told Rachel I was going to do this, take pictures, and share them with the world...well all of you back home (and whoever else may be viewing this)
That's right, I experienced a "Fish Spa".  For those of you who know and/or have experienced this I apologize.  The fish spa is a tank with hundreds of sucker fish.  First, you get your feet washed so as not to kill the fish.  Then, you stick your feet into the tank and the fish latch onto your legs and feet.
The washing of the feet.

They generally let you sit for about 20 min which cost 150 Baht (for one person, 250 Baht for two people).  They did, however, have me switch tanks twice.  I wasn't able to fully understand what she said the reason was, but I came to the conclusion that it was for the fish's sake.  I think if you spend too much time in one tank some of the fish may die.

While the fish spa was fun we have also enjoyed other aspects of our trip.  My Uncle Steve threw a Christmas party this past weekend in his neighborhood.  All of his employees were in attendance and were dressed up in all sorts of different outfits.  Here are a few:
This was a picture with Jeep's friends (Steve's wife).  They were all dressed up in fancy hats and nice dresses.  The best looking woman, however, is the second girl from the left :-* .

I don't know if you can tell, but this woman has her hair up in some fashion (I'm not sure what it's called).  With her hair up like that she is taller than both Rachel and myself.  That is how much this night means to Steve's employees.

This is Steve's dad, Tom.  The plaid cover he's lifting up, I'm not entirely sure what it is, but I thought it was a funny picture and needed to be shared.  He's a truly funny man and was quite funny that night.

The outfit he's wearing, as he told me, is the traditional outfit as worn by his royal highness roughly 5-6 hundred years ago.

This wonderful man is Oh.  He is Steve's driver for the past 6 years and is sporting the outfit the king would wear if he went somewhere like the crocodile farm (which I will write about in my next post) or on safari.  According to everyone at the party he should have won first prize.

The party was a blast with getting to see everyone dressed up, the traditional and "foreign" food, not to mention the free drinks, but it was also nice getting to see my niece and nephew Jessica and Thomas.

Miss Jessica

Jessica, when she first met Rachel, took a quick liking to her.  It was the sweetest thing ever.  And, at the party, I flew Thomas around like he was an airplane and after that he wouldn't stay further than 3 feet away from me.  I love them.

There was one aspect of the party that did not agree with me for roughly 7 minutes:
This dish may look mild (and it was supposed to be), but this killed me for what seemed like forever.  A man sitting at our table, who was Thai, tried a bite and I quote "Yes, it's spicy.  I can handle it, but I don't think you can".  He was correct.
Well, that's all I have for now.  I know I don't have these pictures up on Facebook...yet, but I will take care of that tomorrow.  I also want to show you what the nightlife is like, but we haven't been out enough to have truly had the experience.  I also want to get some better pictures to show you all.  I will be sure to include that in my next post.

To all who have read this far and not stopped before, I thank you and hope you have enjoyed what I have to offer.  I hope you continue to follow me.  We miss everyone from back home and hope everyone is having a safe and wonderful holiday.  Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year (but don't worry I'll post again before the new year).  Take care and remember to email me and let me know how you are doing, even if it's just to say hi (cush737@gmail.com).

Cheers,
   Cush
